Globally, smart phone (smartphone) touch screen technology is far more popular than a smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard or a conventional 12-button keypad. These preferences are revealed from the results of research conducted by Canalys research institutions as the first quarter of 2010.

In the report, note the number of outstanding global smartphone has touched 55.2 million units, grew significantly by 66.9 percent from 33 million units in 2009.

Of the 55.2 million smartphones were sold units, found that 59.1 percent of which is touch screen mobile phone, or approximately 32.6 million units. This figure jumped 187 percent from 11.3 million units in the same period the previous year.

Beneath the touch screen mobile phone, following a phone with a QWERTY keyboard-type input with 27.3 market share, or about 15 million units. This achievement has grown 60.6 percent compared to first quarter last year, which only reached 9.3 million units in the market.

Market share for mobile phone keypad, or 12-key normal declined dramatically for 39.2 percent from last year with 12.3 million units to 7.4 million units this year. Now, the phone keypad just grabbed 13.5 market shares globally.
